Celebrate a remarkable chapter of British aviation history with the Corgi Bristol F2B Fighter A7194 1:48 scale die-cast model, recreating one of the most successful British fighter aircraft to serve in the Middle East during the First World War.
Designed by renowned aircraft engineer Frank Barnwell and developed by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, the Bristol F2B Fighter was one of Britain's most effective combat aircraft of the Great War. Affectionately nicknamed the 'Brisfit', this versatile two-seat biplane combined impressive speed, manoeuvrability and firepower, becoming a formidable opponent in aerial combat.
This beautifully detailed model recreates Bristol F2B Fighter A7194, flown by Captain Arthur Hicks Peck and Captain John Lloyd Williams of No. 111 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, during operations in the Middle East in October 1917.
Operating from Deir el-Balah, the aircraft played an important role in securing Allied air superiority over the region. Between 30 October and 8 November 1917, Peck and Williams successfully destroyed three enemy aircraft while flying A7194, contributing to the aircraft's impressive record of at least five aerial victories.
One of the most distinctive features of A7194 was its unusual colour scheme, combining off-white upper surfaces with an olive-green finish. Although the precise reason for these markings remains uncertain, theories suggest they may have improved visibility during desert operations or helped protect the aircraft from the intense heat.
Part of Corgi's prestigious Aviation Archive collection, this detailed 1:48 scale die-cast replica faithfully captures the distinctive appearance of the original aircraft. With its authentic markings, intricate rigging and detailed crew figures, it's a fantastic addition to any aviation collection and a thoughtful gift for military history enthusiasts.
