In 1903 the Wright Brothers first flew a heavier than air machine under its own power, setting off a chain of events that rapidly changed the world. This book focuses on Lark Hill, located on Salisbury plain, which would become the early centre of British aviation. Sir George White saw the potential of aviation not long after the Wright Brothers' first flight and as well as setting up aviation works in Filton also had a Flying School at Lark Hill. The book features many big names in aviation but interlaced between it all, Bristol Coanda and Boxkite aeroplanes, The Bristol Flying Schools and the British & Colonial Aeroplane Company play pivotal roles.
