Embark on an extraordinary journey through the history of space exploration with the COBI NASA Space Shuttle Atlantis 1:100 scale building block model kit, celebrating one of NASA's most iconic spacecraft and its remarkable contribution to scientific discovery.
Developed as part of NASA's pioneering Space Shuttle programme, Atlantis (OV-104) was the fourth operational shuttle to reach space, making its maiden flight on 3 October 1985. Over an incredible 26-year career, Atlantis completed 33 missions and spent more than 300 days orbiting Earth, transporting astronauts, delivering essential equipment and supporting groundbreaking scientific research.
One of Atlantis's most significant achievements was its role in servicing the Hubble Space Telescope. During the STS-125 mission in 2009, astronauts carried out vital repairs and installed new scientific instruments, extending the telescope's operational life and allowing it to continue capturing extraordinary images of our universe.
The Hubble Space Telescope also has a special connection to Bristol's aerospace heritage, with components of this remarkable scientific instrument developed and manufactured in the city. This makes the Atlantis model a fascinating celebration of both international space exploration and Bristol's contribution to aerospace innovation.
This impressive COBI 1:100 scale building block kit brings the legendary spacecraft to life using 685 high-quality pieces. Carefully designed to recreate the distinctive shape of Atlantis, the completed model features movable elements, an accessible interior and authentic printed NASA markings.
The set also includes a miniature Hubble Space Telescope, an astronaut figure and a dedicated display stand, allowing you to recreate one of the most important partnerships in space exploration.
With clear, step-by-step illustrated instructions, this rewarding building experience is ideal for space enthusiasts, budding astronauts and building block collectors looking to celebrate one of humanity's greatest technological achievements.
